Sumerian

Sumerian was spoken in southern Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) between around 3rd and 2nd millennium BC, when it was replaced by Akkadian as a spoken language. Sumerian continued to be used as a liturgical and literary language until the 1st century AD. Sumerian used a cuneiform (wedge-shaped) script. It is considered to be a language isolate - unrelated to any other language.
